BARCELONA- On November 10th, 2014, at 9:00 am in the morning, the newest 132,500 ton Costa Crociere ship COSTA DIADEMA berthed for the first time in the Port of Barcelona.

The Captain hosted a Plaques and Keys Ceremony accompanied by the General Consul of Italy in Barcelona, the General Manager of Costa Crociere Spain and the Port Authority representatives.

The Port of Barcelona and its representative, Mrs. Carla Salvadó (Cruise Manager of the Port of Barcelona and President of the Medcruise Association) offered Captain M. Garbarino the commemorative plaque of the arrival of the ship in port. The Tourism Board of Barcelona, represented by Mr. Josep Anton Rojas, also offered a book of images of the Catalan city. Words of gratitude followed from the Captain of the ship who made a brief introduction of the Costa Diadema, which is also referred as “REGINA dei MARI” in Italian (the Queen of the seas in English).

The General Consul of Italy in Barcelona, Mr. Stefano Nicoletti welcomed the new ship in Barcelona and what it stood for ‘’Italy’s finest’’.

Michel Nestour, Vice President, Global Ports and Destination Development (EuroMed) and Managing Director of the terminal of PALACRUCEROS attended this great event as representative for Carnival Corporation.
